Preventive
Care Services
While many people do lose their teeth over the years,
such loss is not inevitable. It is the result of oral disease or trauma,
not the aging
process itself. Teeth can and should last a lifetime. That’s why
we’re so diligent about preventive dentistry.
- Regular Checkups – Allow
us to monitor every aspect of your oral health and recommend ways
to maintain or restore your health
as well as prevent the occurrence or recurrence of disease! Fluoride
treatments, which are just one of many great features of regular
cleanings and hygiene appointments, can significantly reduce the incidence
of cavities
in both children and adults. We can also keep a close watch on your
periodontal (or gum) health, conduct oral cancer screenings and so
much more.
- Dental
Sealants – When applied to children’s teeth, these
sealants form a protective barrier against decay.
- Patient Education – The
most effective means we have of preventing dental disease and tooth loss
is through regular professional oral hygiene
and examination of your teeth. We can speak with you during each visit
to make sure you’re fully aware of your health situation and any
key areas of future concern. You’ll grow to trust our expert
advice and quality care as you become more knowledgeable and therefore
more
in control of your oral health. This helps you form lifetime habits
for lifetime teeth.
- Nightguards – If you find yourself developing the
tooth-damaging habit known as bruxism, unconsciously biting down
or grinding your teeth
with too much force, our Nightguards can help!
Restorative Services
Chances of retaining your natural teeth for a lifetime
are promising today with sensible dental health habits and periodic professional
attention.
If you feel a lack of self-confidence due to a dental disfigurement or
some undesirable oral health situation, then you’re wise to be
investigating what today’s restorative and/or cosmetic dentistry
can provide for you. A picture is worth a thousand words, right? So just
visit the photo gallery to see what porcelain veneers and the other services
listed here can really mean!
- Tooth-Colored Fillings – Unsightly silver-colored
fillings are a thing of the past as Dr. Ames creates the most beautiful,
long-lasting
results with tooth-colored fillings and restorations.
- Porcelain Veneers – Veneers
are thin shells bonded to the surface of teeth. Porcelain offers
durability and a realistic appearance. Veneers
are a more conservative alternative to crowns since they require
less removal of the tooth's original surface. With veneers in place,
patients
can expect straighter, whiter and more even-looking teeth. Dr.
Ames and an excellent world-class technician in New York City help
create beautiful
smiles like those displayed in the smile gallery.
- Whitening – We
offer tooth-whitening treatment that can be performed at-home. This brings about whiter teeth
and help create a brighter smile.
- Bonding - Composite bonding is a technique used
to improve the appearance of your teeth. The term composite bonding
refers to any composite material,
either a plastic or resin, which is bonded to an existing tooth.
Bonding is ideal for fixing chipped or cracked teeth, hiding discoloration
on the tooth's surface, or reducing the gaps between teeth.

Cosmetic Services
Are you happy enough with your smile to bare your teeth
in public with pride and confidence? Or are you reluctant to smile because
you’re
self conscious about how your teeth look? If crooked, stained, broken
or missing teeth have taken away your smile pride, we have some great
news! The magic is available for everyone, and the affordability will
surprise you even more. You don’t have to be born with a beautiful
smile. At Ames Dental, we offer some remarkable procedures that can
improve the appearance of your teeth and give you every reason to smile.
In many cases, these procedures can be performed with minimal time in
the dental chair, at a surprisingly reasonable fee. Imagine…the
smile you’ve only dreamed about is now within your reach! A beautiful
smile is a precious asset at any age for any business or profession.
Cosmetic dentistry can make changes that create dramatic differences
in the way you look to others and the way you feel about yourself. Why

Patient Comfort and Technology
The Ames Dental facility is a small, fully computerized dental practice
with friendly people. The schedule is arranged so only one patient is
being seen at a time to ensure everyone’s focus is on you. You’ll
get the full attention of each staff member. Other ways we’re maximizing
technology to create the most comfortable environment possible include
the following:
- Digital Imaging - Through dental imaging, Dr. Ames will
take your photo and do some digital image alterations to create a
smile similar
to what your smile will look like after the recommended treatment.
Then he’ll consult you about the possibilities and point out
the differences so you have outstanding information with which to make
your decision.
- Intra-Oral
Camera and Chairside Computers - As a dental patient, sometimes you’d
like to see into your own mouth to get a better idea of what your dentist
is seeing, right? Even with mirrors, you may not be able
to get a really good look at your teeth and gums. Thanks to modern technology
and the intra-oral camera, now you can! This device, installed in a small
wand, gives you a “guided tour” video of your teeth and
gums so you can see them the same way we do. This really helps when
Dr. Ames
is explaining diagnosis, treatment options and follow-up care.
- Oral Sedation

- Patient Comfort – At Ames Dental, we do everything possible
to minimize pain, reduce anxiety and keep visits as short as possible.
